Donating Wellies to The Outward Bound Trust

Members of our team headed to the shores of Ullswater (one of our favourite places!) earlier this month to spend the afternoon with The Outward Bound Trust and donate a batch of our best selling wellies!

Arriving with a van full of wellies in various styles and sizes for donation (lots of Rydals, Kentmeres, Pooleys and Heltons), our team were met by Outward Bound Adventure Resource Co-Ordinator Gav as well as Phil, Kryse and their new recruit Katie who kindly gave us a tour of the lakeside Howtown Centre and their impressively stocked kit room.

The Outward Bound Trust are an educational charity with a mission “to inspire young people to believe they can achieve more than they ever thought possible”. A truly fantastic endeavour in a time when, like Outward Bound Trust say, “confidence, resilience and wellbeing is needed more than ever.”

We've worked with The Outward Bound Trust since 2021 when we first spoke to Phil the Facilities Technician at Howtown about using their private jetty for a summertime photoshoot of our best selling Eden Water Shoes (you can see some images from this photoshoot below!) After learning about Outward Bound's amazing work we donated over 100 pairs of Eden Water Shoes for young people to use at their Ullswater based centres and our connection has continued ever since!

Becs our Director of Strategy and Content said, “The team at Howtown are absolutely brilliant – we’ve loved the days we’ve spent down on the lake with Phil over the last two years! We’ve always been so looked after by the team, it’s ace knowing that the kids on their residential visits have been able to use our water shoes, so it was great to bring a big batch of wellies with us this time.”

“We spent ages looking around the store rooms at Howtown seeing everything they use on their adventures, planning other products we could donate and coming up with ideas for new kit.

Huge thanks to Phil for taking me out paddling on the lake in the rain and providing a warm cup of tea afterwards!”
